Zen-On
Zen-On - I picked this up a local thrift shop in Bradford Ontario Canada. It was made in Japan, back in the 60’s. It has great sounding pickups and overall good quality parts.. I’m still researching this one and will add more later.
Yamaha Pacifica w812
Yamaha Pacific W812 - Picked this up at an auction in Churchill Ontario. It was in base case. The bonus was the original Crybaby made in Italy by Jen Industries, which houses the red focil cap that also came with it. Sounds like a classic Fender/Tele.
Vantage VP795
This guitar was found secluded in a dark corner in a recoding studio called KezRock Entertainment, owned by a dear friend of mine. As this was his first guitar, it had a lot sentimental value. I felt sorry for it because it wasn’t getting all the attention that his Fender or Gibson were getting, so I made it a point to visit it every time I was over there. He finally caved and offered to make a deal with me. We won’t get into the sweet deal that he gave me. After a little TLC, this baby ROCKS
Granada Les Paul
Granada Les Paul - Picked this 70's gem up at a Hock Shop in Bradford Ontario Ca. Was neglected, but after some TLC, plays like a champ!
An absolute first rate guitar. Mostly for the previous poster here is some history on what he has. I actually contacted the founder of the school where I bought this .In west canada.GRANADA was a house brand for the school. They were made in the mid 70's and early 80's at ( get this) the Aria Pro plant in Japan! By the same factory and the same people that made the Aria pro 2.AT that time. To the highest quaility. So what you esentialy have is A LES PAUL! AS good or better than any made with the GIBSON logo...never give it up! As far as I know they were only made in natural blonde flame maple with a black head stock plate and Granada in MOP.You have the best. With the right pick ups you should be able to tell it from a vinatge LP. It may be better.
Yamaha RGX 312
This baby was picked at another one of my frequently visited establishments. It’s a very good sounding guitar. Plays very well, strat style neck, push pull pot. The humbuckers and single coils provide a great tone.
Original Supro Add
Several brand names are associated with Valco vintage guitars, including Supro, National, Oahu, and Airline. The best known Valco guitars are those from the 1960s, when the company began manufacturing electric guitars made from fiberglass. Fiberglass was an exciting material at the time, since it could be made in any color of the rainbow, allowing the guitars to actually be unnatural colors, rather than being painted to look that way. Valco called this fiberglass “Res-O-Glas,” and described it as “Space Age Polyester Glass.” The terms may cause some amusement now that we have entered the twenty-first century, but in the 1960s, this substance was considered very hi-tech.
The Valco guitars of the 1960s looked like solid body electric guitars, though the bodies were actually made in two pieces. These guitars also introduced the “Gumby” headstock—so named for its resemblance to the Gumby character of television fame. Guitars from both the Supro and National lines were manufactured from “Res-O-Glas,” and a wide variety of shapes and colors were available to the public. Some of the names of the vintage Valco electric guitars in the Supro brand included the Ozark, the Martinique, the Bermuda, and the Belmont, while the National brand included the Newport and the Glenwood 99. Some of these models had been manufactured from wood prior to the 1960s, and saw a revival when Valco began making guitars from fiberglass.
1958 Supro Dual Tone
- Beginning in 1940, National/Valco serial numbers were on a small oblong metal plate (brass or aluminum). This plate was tacked to the back of the neck with two small brass nails. The following serial numbers apply to all Valco-made National instruments, including lapsteels and guitars. These plates were also put on amplifiers. All Valco-made instruments were numbered this way till 1964. Valco also made instruments for Sears (Silvertone), Montgomery Wards (Airline), Gretsch, Oahu and others. These are numbered with the same metal tag system.
